I write about the places, peoples, and crafts that shape how civilisations remember themselves. Twelve years of editorial practice, an MLitt in Heritage & Tourism from Glasgow, and 21 countries walked through with curiosity.

About
I'm Marisha — a culture, heritage and travel writer based in Bangalore. I write about the material and immaterial things that tell us who we are: ancient ruins, living craft traditions, sacred architecture, local ceramics, and the people who carry knowledge forward.
My writing is grounded in academic rigour — I hold an MLitt in Tourism, Heritage and Development from the University of Glasgow — and sharpened by twelve years of professional storytelling for some of India's most read editorial and brand platforms.
I have travelled extensively across 21 countries, always with an eye for what persists and what is disappearing.

What I write about
My writing moves across the material and immaterial — ruins and living rooms, ancient kilns and contemporary makers, pilgrimage routes and neighbourhood markets. The common thread is always the question of what endures and why.
Petra, Pompeii, Cappadocia — writing about the physical evidence of how people lived, worshipped, and made things.
The objects that carry culture forward — local pottery traditions, artisan makers, the intersection of hand and heritage.
Temples, mosques, churches, shrines — how faith shapes built form and what it feels like to stand inside that history.
Markets, food traditions, daily rituals — the anthropology of the ordinary as it is actually lived, not performed for tourists.

Campaign head for Madhya Pradesh Tourism's social media activation on HolidayIQ — positioning MP as a heritage and culture destination for the Indian traveller. Strategy, content direction, and copy across Facebook and blog.
Writer and website direction for Kopitiam Lah — capturing the warmth, culture, and identity of a Malaysian-inspired restaurant through copy and content that feels lived-in rather than written.
My own writing — travel, books, aromatherapy, and the things I keep returning to. The place where the voice is entirely mine, unmediated by a brief.
Brand & strategy work
Twelve years working with tourism boards, travel platforms, and lifestyle brands means I understand the brief before it's written. I offer copywriting, content strategy, and campaign narrative — specifically for travel, heritage, and culture-led brands.
